Our Common Beliefs

The following are some of our common beliefs:

·         The Bible is God’s inspired Word, final authority and guide for life and godliness. 2 Timothy 3:14-17

·         There is one eternal God whose fulness the Bible describes as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. John 14:23-26

·         Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, came to earth, was fully human, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the complete sacrifice for sin, was raised from the dead, and offers salvation to all who put their faith and trust in Him. Matthew 1:23; John 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11.

·         Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him. John 14:6

·         Sin is universal, and it separates us from God. Everyone is accountable to God for their sin. God, in His love, desires every person to learn about Him, come to Him, and receive salvation through His Son, Jesus. Titus 2:11-14; 2 Timothy 2:3; Hebrews 9:27

·         Jesus has charged all his followers to share the good news about Him. Matthew 28:19

·         We are saved by God’s Grace through faith in Jesus. Salvation is God’s free gift to all who will believe and put their trust in Him. Salvation cannot be obtained through human effort or merit. Ephesians 2:8

·         Receiving God’s free gift of salvation will produce an observable change in a person, evidenced by a new life lived in Christ and service to Him. Followers of Jesus Christ strive to know and do God’s will. Mark 3:35; James 1:24; 2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 7:13-16

·         As followers, we publically confess our faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, repent of our sinful lifestyle, are baptized, and begin the journey with Jesus “on the narrow road that leads to life.” Based on this, Jesus adds followers to His body, the Church. Acts 2:38, 2:47

·         While the fullness of spiritual fellowship exists between baptized Believers, we welcome everyone into our gatherings who is seeking to learn about God and develop a deeper relationship with Him. 1 John 1:3,7; 1 Corinthians 1:9; Philippians 2:1-2; Galatians 3:26-28; Romans 6:1-4

·         The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, points to Jesus, reveals spiritual truth and understanding of the Bible so we will apply it in our life. He indwells, comforts, guides, and directs, and he is God’s seal of our salvation. John 14:1-21; Ephesians 1:13

·         Jesus is the Head of the Church. He is Lord over every aspect of one’s life. We are accountable to God’s Word and to one another, and we hold each other accountable. Jesus will return at God’s appointed time to claim His bride, the Church. Both the living and the dead will be raised and will give an account for the life they have lived. Hebrews 9:27; 1 Corinthians 2:15, 6:19

·         The Body of Christ is a unit made up of many members with different gifts given to buildup, mature and strengthen the Body of Christ for works of service so that “we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-16
